Planning fitted storage
Bespoke wardrobe planning: what to decide before a quote
A neat row of doors can hide a layout that does not work for you. Before asking for a bespoke wardrobe quote, think about what needs to go inside and how the room will be used. The style matters, but so do opening space and everyday access.
Count the storage, not just the doors
List the things you want to store: long hanging clothes, shorter items, folded clothes, shoes, bags or bedding. Say which need to be easy to reach. This gives the design discussion a practical starting point.
If the wardrobe is shared, describe how you want to divide the space. If it is mainly household storage, say so. An attractive reference photo may show a different internal layout from the one you need.
Show the room around the wardrobe
Send a wide photograph of the whole wall and approximate width, height and depth. Include skirting, sockets, radiators and any sloping ceiling. Show the position of the bed and room door where they affect access.
Early dimensions help an initial discussion. Final production sizes and who is responsible for measuring must be confirmed before a cutting list or order is agreed.
Specify the front and the finish separately
Say whether you want a complete unit or fronts for an existing carcass. Add the style you prefer, such as Shaker, and explain whether you want raw MDF, painting or a specialist sprayed finish discussed in the quote.
For a front-only enquiry, label the pieces and give quantities and approximate sizes. Thickness, frame proportions, opening arrangement and hardware need to be agreed together. A reference picture is a starting point rather than a complete specification.
A five-line brief is enough to begin
Send your brief through the Bespoke wardrobes & joinery project option on WMB Fix. Attach a sketch or reference pictures if useful. The design, materials, fitting and finish are individually quoted.
